Every holiday, I make a few batches of un-paper towels using upcycled flannel to encourage friends and connections to make the switch. The cool thing about flannel is that it sticks to itself, so you can roll your towels back onto the roll and keep them in the same spot as before.
When you think about how far a roll of paper towels has to travel, and all that goes into making one, the sustainable choice is clear. I’ve used unpaper towels for about 6 years now, and I am on my second set. People don’t really talk about what happens when you step back from the store to garbage can cycle. The things you use become sentimental and familiar, and life feels more connected and simple.
