California Native Plant Garden Coach

My style is a California Native “cottage garden” with attention to creating habitat and food sources for birds and butterflies as well as color and fragrance.

Serving Pasadena, Altadena, Sierra Madre and Monrovia area.

As a California Native Plant Garden Coach, I help you transform your yard into a local wildlife haven that you can take care of yourself. I help you choose the right plants for your yard’s unique climate, consider your yard goals (habitat, pollinators, forage, fragrance) and create a design plan. I can help as little or as much as you want, from planning to installing. Interested in transforming just a small corner of your space into a butterfly garden or habitat? Services

Plant List Only $100-300

Do you want to plant yourself, but need to know which native plants thrive in your yard? I create a tailored list of plants that suit your yard’s sun exposure and garden goals.

List + Zone Map $200-400

I draw a guide that shows you your yard’s unique zones, and which plants (color coded!) thrive in these zones. This way, you can be confident about where you plant.

Planting Map $400-900

I create a plan detailed enough to give to a landscaping team. It shows how many plants, and exactly where each goes. Includes drip system layout and instructions for plant care.

I can also install or consult outside of these parameters for a reasonable hourly rate. The above rates assume an average sized front yard.

About me

I decided to become a California native plant garden coach after years of maintaining a Certified Wildlife Habitat in a Pasadena foothill community. Over time, I developed a unique, low maintenance approach to California native gardening, perfect for those who prefer to manage their own outdoor space. A native yard requires little maintenance once set up. There is no need for a leaf blower or a lawn mower, and once established, a native yard uses very little water.

As an artist, I can visualize a yard over time, and I hand draw your unique garden plans. I know which native plants grow fast enough for a hedge, which are suited for your unique terrain and light. I’m also a fan of working with what you already have or building native yards one corner at a time. As a gardening enthusiast, I have done it all. I have tried every form of outdoor compost, utilize rain barrels, and keep a small fish pond and separate dragonfly pond.
